Professor Kristina Edström
Kristina Edström is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry and leader of the Ångström Advanced Battery Centre at Uppsala University. She has put Uppsala University’s battery research on the world map and works on the development of next generation energy storage and battery technologies. Recent work has considered self-repairing batteries using polymers which can form weak hydrogen bonds with other polymer chains or the surfaces of electrodes. Prof. Edström has received several prestigious awards and honors, including the Thuréus Prize, the KTH Royal Institute of Technology Great Prize, Uppsala University Rudbeck Medal, the Wallenberg Scholar and the Gold Medal of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. Additionally, she is leading the EU BATTERY 2030+ Large-Scale Research Initiative and is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. Alongside her research, Prof. Edström is involved with mentoring and teaching early career researchers, and is director of Swedness, a graduate programme in neutron scattering.
