07jun1:00 PM1:05 PMOpening Insight OutIdentify unconscious bias and inequity: sharing experiences and stories - How to become a diverse and inclusive leader

Event Details

Today’s theme is about identifying unconscious bias and inequity in your scientific surroundings. How can you identify unconscious bias, and how can you deal with this? How can you become a diverse and inclusive leader? What can we do to make our own academic setting a more inclusive and diverse world? The programme includes an interactive panel discussion including inspiring stories and experiences of a variety of scientists, plus the opportunity to learn how to identify unconscious bias and inequity in your (work) environment to eventually become a diverse and inclusive leader.

The event will be officially opened by Professor Margot Weijnen. She is the Diversity manager of NWO and board member of NWO Domain Applied and Engineering Sciences (AES).

    Host of this event

After being the anchor of the daily morning show on the Dutch Caribbean channel “Nos Pais Television”, she now presents all kind of events in the Netherlands. Her passion is ‘human interest’ on various topics. She likes to use her own experience and knowledge on diversity and inclusion and at the same time gather more knowledge and insights. She will look for similarities and recognition instead of differences in order to create understanding for the other. “Empowerment is of great importance and shared stories always make you stronger!”
